INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING YOUR CHINESE IMPERIAL DOG
SAMPLE PHOTOS SHOWING HOW TO MEASURE FOR THE CERTIFICATION FORM
Welcome to the Chinese Imperial Dog Registry of America (CIDRA). This registry was created so that Chinese Imperial Dog (CID) Owners and Breeders have a place Certify and Register their Chinese Imperial Dogs. It is crucial to maintain the integrity of the breed that the information submitted to the registry be accurate. We are making every effort to insure that every dog registered with the CIDRA is indeed a CID so there are several requirements that must be followed before any dog will be accepted for registration with the CIDRA. Please read these instructions thoroughly before filling out any paperwork.
The first step will be to have your dog certified. Dogs must be at least 14 months of age to be certified as a Chinese Imperial Dog. You will find a CIDRA Foundation Weight, Height, and Length Certification Form. Please fill in all required information including Sire and Dam’s current registry’s names and numbers (yes AKC if applicable). This is for our information and tracking purposes.
There are two options for certifying the information submitted on this form. Option one is a veterinarian signature. Your veterinarian must participate with you and one other person in the weighing and measuring process. Photos must be submitted along with this form showing height and length which the third person will be able to assist with. Option two is having the weighing and measuring process witnessed by two people (other than the dog owner) who must provide signature, date and contact information. These two people must participate in the measuring and weighing process along with the dog owner who must also sign the form, and photos must be submitted showing height and weight. Detailed instructions on how to measure your dog are provided with the form. All photos must show dogs feet standing on a flat surface, legs straight under them with the measuring device clearly readable in the photo. All dogs submitted for registration must be UNDER 9 pounds, and UNDER 9” tall at the withers. Please do not submit any dog for registration who does not clearly meet these size requirements.
By signing this form you and your witnesses are certifying that the dog is the weight, height, and length are as stated on the certificate. Any documents and photos submitted become the property of the CIDRA. Falsification of documents will result in denial of application and loss of registration privileges with the CIDRA. The CIDRA reserves the right to refuse registration to any dog who does not clearly meet the CIDRA requirements.
The second step will be the Single Dog Registration Form. The base fee for registering a dog with the CIDRA will be $15 for Chinese Imperial Dog Club of America members and $20 for non members. Please note the “Premium Application Fee” on the form. This fee is $60 for members and $65 for non members. By selecting this option, you will be sent a swab to collect DNA from your dog. It will then be submitted for DNA testing for parentage confirmation, coat color genes, and will test for carrier of many recessive heritable diseases. This is an option only and not a requirement for registration.
Along with this form you must submit your weight, height and length certification form completed along with the required photos. You must also submit a photo copy of the dog’s current registration with a three to five generation pedigree. If you have no registration papers on your dog you must submit a copy of the contract from the breeder that you purchased the dog from showing either limited registration (no breeding or showing) or full registration. This is in a effort to insure not only pure blood lines of each dog, but also to deter dog owners from breeding a dog that was originally sold with limited registration. You may also submit a photo of your dog that you wish to be placed on your final registration certificate. Photos should be submitted to cidra08@msn.com
The next section on the form is the Dog’s information. Under “Dog’s Registered Name, please put the name that you wish to go on the dogs registration certificate. Please fill in Breeder’s name and their Kennel Name if Applicable. Under Sire and Dam’s registered names, fill in the current registered names of the sire and dam of this dog and the registration numbers of the registry that the sire and dam is currently registered with.
For color of the dog, please choose from a list of approved colors. If you have a dog, whose color is not listed, please note this on the application and submit a photo of the dog in good lighting showing the color of your dog. The registry will either choose the color closest to the dogs color, or add new colors to the approved colors list as needed.
Please make sure when submitting your registration that all paperwork and photo's are submitted at the same time. Any incomplete registrations will be returned. When submitting photo's via email, please send
the height, length and certificate photo together in the same email with the dog's information, name and registration number linking it the the paperwork sent through the mail.
By signing this form you are certifying that all information is true and correct. Any documents and photos submitted become the property of the CIDRA. Falsification of documents will result in denial of application and loss of registration privileges with the CIDRA. The CIDRA reserves the right to refuse registration to any dog who does not clearly meet the CIDRA requirements.
Both the sire and dam must be certified and registered with the CIDRA before the litter can be registered as offspring of Chinese Imperial Dogs. Once the puppy(s) reaches 14 months of age, they may then be certified and registered as Chinese Imperial Dogs if they fall within following requirements. All dogs must be certified by a veterinarian on our CIDRA certification form or two witnesses to weigh less than 8 pounds 15 ounces and be under 9” at the withers at 14 months or older to obtain final registration certificate. We reserve the right to withhold final certified registration papers if the dog does not meet the CIDRA criteria or if we find that the certification form was falsified. These conditions must be met in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our breeding stock and to ensure the consistency of the size we strive to maintain.
The fee for registering a litter as offspring of two certified Chinese Imperials is $25 for Chinese Imperial Dog Club of America members and $30 for non members. In addition to this litter fee is a $5 per puppy fee for the individual registration certificates that will be provided for each puppy to give to anyone who purchases one of these puppies. There is an “expedited service fee” of $35 for those who want their litters registered NOW. You will note a late fee of $30 which is being waived at this time to give those a chance who have second generation dogs a chance to get the parents registered, then the litters registered. Keep in mind this fee is only being waived temporarily (6 months minimum).
Please provide Dam and Sire information. Since this litter registration application is for litters produced of two certified, registered CIDs, please provide CIDRA registered names and numbers for the sire and dam along with the other requested information.
At this time, litters can only be registered as offspring of two certified, registered CIDs. Once the puppies reach the age of 14 months old, the owner of the puppy can complete the registration process if they choose by having their dog/puppy certified and submitting all the required documents as listed above in the single dog registration.
Below is the disclaimer and agreement you make when signing the Litter Registration Application.
